Pulaski Democrats Celebrate Victory, Look Ahead To 2009!
"Being a Democrat, means:
for smarter government, and against taxing the future. We must learn from the past, live in the present, and preserve the future."
- Dick Cranwell, Chairman, Virginia Democratic Party
Democrats in Virginia outdid themselves this year, electing Mark Warner to the United States Senate with a resounding majority, placing a majority of Virginia's 11 House seats into Democratic hands, and putting Virginia in the Democratic presidential column for the first time in a generation. Congressman Boucher topped the ticket with 97% of the vote, followed closely by Mark Warner with 64%, and Barack Obama performed significantly better than any recent Democratic presidential candidate with 40% of the vote. It was a smashing victory for Pulaski Democrats, and your participation in every aspect of this process enabled our successes this year. We remain immensely grateful for the volunteers who made these victories possible, and hope you will continue to stay involved as we enter the new year!
As we move into 2009, it looks like we are going to have spirited Democratic primary contests for the positions of Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General of Virginia. Closer to home, we will soon select candidates for the 6th and 7th District of the Virginia House of Delegates. All of these events will provide opportunities for you to get involved in these campaigns, as well as the general election campaign. With your continued help, dedication, and support, we look forward to even greater things in 2009!
